The grant is to support Phase II of engagement with KYTES. Altruvest works with KYTES in the areas of the board governance, leadership, implementation and fundraising.

Support is for the start-up of the new initiative, Board Match. This project recruits volunteers and promotes board involvement within the corporate sector by matching potential board members with agencies that suit their interests.

Blake Boultbee

This unique youth organization provides support and services to high need youth in east Toronto. The grant is for general operations, house renovations and fundraising assistance.

Brock Youth Employment and Resource Centre

The centre does work with the youth of Barrie, particularly in the areas of enhancing confidence and self-esteem.

Canadian Association of Family Resources Centres

$120,000

The grant funds national community economic development pilot projects through family resources centres. Phase I dollars were provided to local agencies (Gerrard Resource Centre and the York North Family Resource Programmes) to conduct initial assessment.

Central Neighbourhood House

Support for a pilot project of an American based program that has been adopted to strengthen families experiencing multiple risk factors. The 14-week program assists parents to develop and improve parenting skills.

Central Toronto Youth Services

The grant funds phase one of the Family Triangles Program. Phase one is a needs assessment to determine the appropriate level and description of service required by families led by lesbian and gay parents

This is a website for the career counselling and career development community in Canada. Funding is for two specific tasks: development of on-line profiles of job classifications within the career counselling field, and implementation of "Historic Moments in Career Counselling".

Culturelink

This is second year funding of the Newcomer Youth Centre. The Newcomer Youth Centre provides services to more than 3000 immigrant youth between the ages of 14 and 24. Services include support groups, computer and leadership training, theatre groups and career counselling and planning.

Final Internship Program and renovation grant.

Eva's Place

The grant funds creation projects for homeless youth initiated by Eva's Place. Eva's Place provides career assessment, monitoring and job placement support

Family Service Centre of Ottawa-Carlton

The grant is for the "Family to Family Ties" program. This program matches families in need of emotional support with a volunteer family, for one year.

 

Gerrard Resource Centre

Grant funds are for the Healthy Childhood Development Project operated by the Gerrard Resource Centre in partnership with Ryerson's Early Childhood Education Program and the York North Family Resource Programmes

 

The Hospital for Sick Children

The grant provides support a Parenting Alliance in Toronto. The goal of the alliance is to prevent the development of behavioural and emotional disorders in children by ensuring that effective parenting programs are available in our community.

Jewish Family Service Agency

This is support for the Business Employment Program aimed at the unemployed and the under-employed in Vancouver.

Lakeridge Health Corporation (The Research Institute)

$100,000

Support is for the program Re:Membering Fatherhood. This program is an interpersonal, process-oriented, closed, time-limited group with a psycho-educational component. This group's approach to work with fathers, bolstering their competence and comfort in performing the nurturing bond at the heart of the fathering experience.

 

National Aboriginal Achievement Foundation

$50,000

The grant is to support five annual career fairs in Ontario for Aboriginal youth. This fair will concentrate in growth areas of the economy such as technology and science.

New Directions

$12,000

This grant funds a support program for women who have been involved in same-sex relationships and are struggling with the loss of their partner through separation or death. The program includes support for the children of these women. This is the only specialised service of this type available in the Metro Toronto area.

North End Women's Resource Centre

$20,000

This grant is for a public education program in Winnipeg. The program is one way in which to offer direction to those families seeking a better future by exploring the issues they face ranging from unemployment, addictions, abuse and education.

OAYEC

$100,000

This grant supports an initiative to promote volunteerism among youth (aged 15 to 25), including outreach to disadvantaged, immigrant, and visible minority youth.

Oolagen

$65,000

The grant funds a pilot project using the wraparound process for young mothers at risk. The foundation has previously provided funding for other wraparound programs. These programs work by connecting individuals to their community and encouraging people from various services and sectors to work collaboratively to meet the needs of the targeted group.

 

Parents in Transition

$25,000

This grant fund is support for expanding the grantee's role by sharing its experience and knowledge with others. A resource manual has been developed as part of this initiative.

 

Regent Park Community Health Centre

$15,000

This is to fund further development and proposal submission for the Community Succession - Pathways to Employment Project. This project is designed to break down barriers and to develop creative new connections and opportunities for residents of Regent Park. Key components in the project include adult mentoring, mentoring initiative with school age children, revision of the directory of scholarships, bursaries and training opportunities, and networking.

Sir Sandford Fleming College

$3,000

Students of Sir Sandford Fleming College Employment Counsellor Program received matching dollars to attend NATCON 2000. An additional grant continued to fund the Cosgrave Award of $1,000 per year for five years. The Cosgrave Award (in honour of Gerald P. Cosgrave, the first Counselling Director of The Counselling Foundation of Canada) is presented to a first year student of the Career and Work Counsellor Program in recognition of the student's academic success and potential in an employment, career or work counselling profession

Skills for Change

This grant funds a mentorship program for foreign-trained professionals. The program creates employment outcomes for these professionals.

Union of Ontario Indians

Second year of the Mahjetawin Meekunuang Multi-Media Career Learning Project. There are four main areas of development over a three year period: 1)website development, 2)career education resource development 3)employer and First Nation job title development and career and employment practitioner training and circle development.
