Funding to support the third and final phase of the Early Intervention Project with focus on the provision of long-term family therapy.

CBC Television, Halifax

$90,000

Renewal grant to support the development and production of "Street Cents". This consumer/lifestyle television program is targeted at young Canadians and is telecast on CBC, local cable channels and distributed for classroom use.

Central Toronto Youth Services, Toronto

To support the mentoring/housing initiative of the "Supporting Our Youth" project. This project matches lesbian, gay, bisexual, transsexual or transgender youth with adult mentors from the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transsexual or transgender communities or other supportive adults. There are two kinds of matches: community mentoring and housing mentoring.

Central Toronto Youth Services, Toronto

This is a renewal grant to support two part-time counsellors (1 male, 1 female) providing one-on-one and group counselling to gay, lesbian and bisexual youth aged 19-26 years.

CESO-SACO (Canadian Executives Serving Overseas), Ottawa

To support the national coordination of CESO At Home and work associated with program development. This three year pilot program will assist Canadian communities by making available the skills and expertise of their Volunteer Advisers. CESO volunteers provide skills, training and mentoring toward the aim of improving viability of existing or new businesses and service organizations.

COSTI, Toronto

This is confirmation of a grant approved in 1998. A contribution towards COSTI's funding of the Community Integration Program, a joint venture with Humber River Regional Hospital.

Culturelink, Toronto

This is the third and final year of a grant made to the Newcomer Youth Centre. The Newcomer Youth Centre provides services to more than 3000 immigrant youth between the ages of 14 and 24. Services include support groups, computer and leadership training, theatre groups and career counselling and planning.

CYBF/CESO, National

(over 3 years)$525,000

CYBF and CESO received funding to collaborate with community partners on the development of a tri-mentoring pilot project. The pilots will be in Montreal, Calgary, St. John's, Ottawa, Toronto, Halifax, Saskatoon, Regina, Winnipeg, Thunder Bay and Fredricton over a three year period.

To support the expansion and ongoing resource needs of the Frank G. Lawson Career Information Centre.

Eva's Initiatives, Toronto

Funding is for the positions of Manager of Partnership Development and Business Manager to assist in the set-up and management of partnership-based training programs and on-site productive enterprises for homeless youth at Eva's Phoenix.

Family Service Centre, Ottawa - Carleton

This is funding for the final year of a three year pilot of family mentoring programs.

Foundation de l'entrepreneurship, Quebec City

This grant supports the establishment of a mentoring network which will provide mentoring advice, support and resource materials to 500 young and new entrepreneurs in the initial two years.

Funding to expand a new program established by the college, "The Internet and the Inner City".

This is a two year grant to support the "Parenting Alliance". This is a partnership of child serving agencies facilitated and coordinated by The Hospital for Sick Children

Support for the Future Options Programme which combines traditional pre-employment skills training and mentoring participants with members of the community in their chosen area of career.

London Interfaith Counselling Centre, London

Two grants were approved to support this community based counselling service with general operating expenses related to increased demand on services.

Memorial University of Newfoundland, St John's

Funds to develop and implement a tri-mentoring pilot program. High school students are mentored by senior university students who in turn are mentored by members of the community.

OAYEC, Toronto

Two grants were approved this year. The first grant is to support the distribution of the publication "Good Job: A Young Persons Guide to Finding, Landing and Loving a Job". The second grant is a renewal grant to support OAYEC's Program - Volunteer Youth in the Millennium. The project promotes volunteerism among Ontario's youth, including outreach to immigrant and visible minority youth (14-29 years of age).

Funding to continue the work of two wraparound projects, "Street Youth" and Young Mothers" at risk.

Ralph Thornton Centre, Toronto

There was two grants approved this year. The first was to provide, funding for a joint proposal submitted by the Ralph Thornton Centre and the Riverdale Community Ministry, for the continuation and enhancement of the Riverdale Student Unit, a multi-disciplinary, student placement and learning centre. The second grant was a renewal grant provided for the bridge funding for operation of the Riverdale Student Unit.

Ryerson Polytechnic University, Toronto

(over 3 years) $472,519

Grant to support the Ryerson Tri-Mentoring Program. This pilot project is designed to minimize the challenges experienced by non-anglophone, first generation or recent immigrants to Canada in the transition to post-secondary education and in the transition to career-related employment.

Serve Canada, Toronto

Grant to support the effort to create opportunities for youth from diverse racial, academic, cultural and economic backgrounds to perform meaningful community service.

Sir Sandford Fleming, Peterborough

Students of the Employment Counsellor Program received funds to attend NATCON 2001. An additional grant continued to fund the Cosgrave Award.

Skills for Change, Toronto

$80,000

This is second year funding for the Mentoring for Employment Programme. In addition to the existing mentor program for foreign-trained engineers and accountants, funds will allow for expansion of the program to include life sciences professionals and to respond to outside agencies who have asked for assistance in developing their own mentoring programs.

Two grants were provided. First a grant to conduct a Project Evaluation of a computer training program. Subsequently funding to provide the salary for a program facilitator and the program costs of providing an in-house program on computer skills and business etiquette was approved.

This grant is for Horizons, a three-year, tuition free, year round program designed for academically talented elementary level public school students who are at risk of dropping out upon leaving the elementary grades.

To support the implementation of the "Families Care: Strengthening Families Through Volunteering." The program's objectives are to provide families with opportunities to work and spend time together to strengthen the family unit, increase personal communication and at the same time make a contribution to the well-being of their community.
